Are Glitter Lips the Next Big Thing From Pat McGrath Labs?

We’re seeing sparks—and the fireworks haven’t even started yet

If the mother—as Pat McGrath is referred to by the model set—of major makeup looks is going to do a red lip under her namesake label, it’s going to be mother fucking mesmerizing. And the glittery, garnet pouts sported by catwalk veterans like Mariacarla Boscono, Carolyn Murphy, Sasha Pivovarova, and Karen Elson on the runway Atelier Versace definitely didn’t disappoint. Though not yet confirmed, we’re guessing the fourth launch in the famed face painter’s line is the lipstick equivalent of ruby slippers. And similar to the Wicked Witch of the West in The Wizard of Oz, every beauty-obsessed bitch is going to want to get her hands on this makeup magic.

Until then, we suggest recreating the twinkling lip for tomorrow’s festivities by topping your go-to red with a pout-friendly adhesive (like Ciaté London Lip & Mix Glitz Grip Sealer) and crimson glitter (try MAC Glitter in Reflects Blackened Red). For those who don’t want to enjoy all-American BBQ with a side of sparkle, opt for the aerodynamic, ice blue wings spotted on Stella Maxwell, Irina Shayk, and Joan Smalls. Keep the rest of your look casual with an undone bun (like the one crafted backstage by Guido Palau) and prepare, as Katy Perry notes in “Firework,” to ignite the light, let it shine, and own the night like the Fourth of July.
